Building of the Y- Blocks

Building of the Y- Blocks

1953

A rare photograph showing the Y-Block development under construction. In the foreground are the foundations for the small blocks of flats and in the background is Avon House. The development lies between Grant, Wynn and Great Colmore Street.

The attached streaming clip is of local residents Fred and Pat Meads talking to Jackie Gay about the fifties build and the shops around Cregoe Street.
